Auctoritas Gravitas Humanitas Veritas! Texas State University was founded in 1899 and was first named the Southwest Texas State Normal School. With 38,000 undergraduate students, TSU prides itself on uniting all of those students as one, uniting all Bobcats even after graduation. When visiting, be sure to take the afternoon to float the San Marcos River with some friends. For more water fun, visit Schlitterbahn in the summer to cool off on the waterslides. For a vibrant nightlife experience, the strand is the best place to gather with friends and have a good time. We strongly recommend going to the Texas State University Bobcat Stadium to catch a football game and show your Bobcat pride! Whether you float the river or shop the outlet malls, you are guaranteed to have a good time.
The unique traditions and activities at Texas State University are unmatched. There are so many great ways to get outside and explore: Sewell Park, The Outdoor Center, and various swimming locations along the river. The San Marcos River is where all Bobcats come together to celebrate their journey. Whether you are doing some afternoon floating or jumping in the river with your cap and gown, there are so many ways to cool off in the Texas heat!
